I love reading the story of The Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie at Thanksgiving!
This printable game goes along with the story and is great fun for children in your preschool, pre-k, or kindergarten classroom.
Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie Printable
Well, wouldn’t you know it? As soon as I published my Thanksgiving Literacy and Math packets last week I discovered some super cute images at Scrappin Doodles that would have been perfect to include. Since it was too late I decided to create this free printable for you!
Supplies Needed:
Do-a-Dot Markers
Soft Pocket Cube
This game goes along with one of my favorite Thanksgiving books, I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie by Alison Jackson.
How to Play
These types of games are fun and simple to play. There are two pages included, the first one is the recording sheet and the second page has pictures that you cut out and insert into a pocket die or attach to the outside of a square box.
Give one recording sheet to each child in your small group. Print out the pictures, cut, and place in a pocket die.
Next, the students take turns rolling the die and recording their rolls on their recording sheet with a Do-A-Dot marker.
If your students are able you can have them write the numbers in the box instead of using the Do-A-Dot marker. Ask your students questions about how many of each item they rolled and which one has more or less to reinforce math concepts.

Looks like an interesting game. Thanks. I’m gonna try it. Good skill to teach taking turns when playing games.
Thanks Brenna, let us know how it goes! They can never have enough practice taking turns 🙂
Thank you! This is the perfect center activity for my Kinders this week!
Excellent, glad I could help 🙂
It looks good and a good way to document if the kids can read a graph. Thanks!
Thanks Sarah, I hope they enjoy it!
Looks great! But it always print small – Do you know what I’m doing wrong?
Hi Beckie, Thanks for visiting. Make sure your printer is set to print in landscape orientation for this document instead of portrait. Go to “preferences” then select “landscape”. If you are in chrome open the document, then right click on the image to open the printer dialog box. Hope that helps 🙂
Love this game! My kids always enjoy this type of activity, Thanks!

I used it today. I couldn’t wait. My para worked with 4 kids. We put letter stickers in the spots which extended the activity because they had to say the letter they were pasting on.
I can hardly wait for tomorrow 🙂
Great idea Sheila, thanks for sharing!

We love “I Know an Old Lady” books! We don’t own the pie one but we have the fly one in a large size, with stacking cut-outs! It never EVER gets old! ;0
Anyway, I’m stopping in because I am new to We Teach and just joined the “We’re Bloggers” group. When you find a moment, I would love for you to do the same. You can find me at http://sofiasideas.com/

BTW, I didn’t see a GFC widget so I am subscribing via Google Reader. I hope that will suffice?
Thanks for stopping by Sofia! I checked out your blog, great stuff! I am a little OCD about my sidebar- I can’t stand clutter so I don’t have a GFC widget. Feel free to connect any way you wish 🙂
I have ocd so believe me, I get it! lol ;0
