About the Guidecraft 3 Shelf Bookshelf

I am reviewing the Guidecraft 3 Shelf Book Shelf because I am passionate about books and literacy, especially making books organized and accessible in the classroom. This book shelf was fairly easy to assemble but it did take two people. It seems extremely durable and fits in nicely with my other classroom furniture. In the picture below you can see it next to my other shelf that was purchased from a school supply store.

How to Set Up a Classroom Library in Preschool

When setting up a library for young children in your classroom or at home here are some things to remember:

  • Place books in your library with the covers facing front. Tilting your head and reading the title from the spine of the book is something we as adults can do, but young children who cannot read are attracted to the pictures and colors on the front of the books. They will be able to select books that interest them easily when books are facing forward.
  • Categorize your books by topic such as colors, shapes, letters, numbers etc. This will make finding books easier for children. If children can easily find books they want they will be more likely to read.
  • Label your books and baskets or bins. Young children will be able to return books to the correct location easily when the books and the bins are clearly labeled.

You can find more information about setting-up and organizing your classroom or home library here.

The rounded edges and corners will help keep little ones safe and the UV finish ensures that the bookshelf will withstand heavy duty use in any classroom or home.

  1. I don’t have many bookshelves in my classroom so this would be great! Thanks for the review!

  2. I love the Big Book Easel. Big Books can be a pain to store and read. This easel looks perfect for my classroom!

  3. The Classic White Bookshelf would be useful in my home because we are in need of more storage space (mostly for books!)

  4. I would love any book shelf as I am a book collector and organizer, but I love the Moon & Stars See, Store & Take-Along shelf and Moon & Stars Media Carousel. Thanks for the chance to win. :))

  5. This is a beautiful shelf. I am very passionate about creativing an inviting library area and that gets my students interested in exploring books.

  6. Barring the bookshelves I so adore, I would like to have the Moon & Stars Media Carousel for my classroom

I would love to win this bookshelf…I’m new at my campus and bookshelves are scarce….I also liked Guidecraft’s Art table and Chair set!

  8. I love the Moon & Stars Media Carousel. I have a primary color theme in my room, so it would match perfectly, but also would be a great addition to my library center. I think the kids would be attracted to it and would spend more time looking at books. I will have to keep it in mind for a future purchase.

  9. I would love a new kitchen. Ours was not made for so much use and is starting to break, it would be great to get a new sturdy one!

I would love the book shelf since 1 was just removed from our room or the media center for a listening center.

  12. I follow Pre-K pages on Pinterest and also suscribe to it through email. I would love to have the bookshelf for my Science Area! My science tubs would fit perfectly on the lower 2 shelves, and the top shelf could be utilized for my Science Area Books!

  13. I would love to win a bookcase. My kinders just broke a free standing bookcase. Now we are limited to where we can store our books. Thank you.

  14. Love the bookshelves! How do you arrange your book library in your classroom? How do you have them labled in the picture?

  15. I work in a pre-school and I am always in need of a bookshelf. My bookshelf is grimm looking and would love to have one as beautiful as the guidecraft one.

  16. Love the Classic White Collection! It would be great for my living center in the classroom, so they are able to store all the fun toys we have. Right now we have this bin which is falling apart! 🙁

  17. I love the Guideshelf 3 shelf bookshelf! I have been teaching preschool for years and this type of furniture lasts. I just gave away a piece that was over 20 years old and another teacher is using it! I look forward to creating my book nook this year, a shelf like this would be perfect!

  18. I would love to have this for my classroom it would add a perfect atmosphere to the reading area —-Mission Storage Bench with Baskets
