I Teach K! in Las Vegas

I will be presenting at the national I Teach K! convention in Las Vegas on Monday, July 12th. The sessions I am presenting are listed below:

8:45-10:00 am
Session A7: You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It Too: Meeting Literacy Standards
Are higher literacy standards getting you down? Join me to learn fun, interactive ways to teach literacy skills that will help your kindergartners meet the higher standards—and even go beyond. Your students will love literacy learning, and parents and administrators will be impressed by their success!

10:30-11:45 am
Session A19: ABC’s and 123′s
Discover a wide array of new and engaging activities to make learning the ABCs and 123s meaningful and fun. Vanessa shares creative, low-prep, hands-on ideas you can implement in your classroom now to help your students recognize and identify letters and numbers fluently.

1:15-2:30 pm
Session B7: Help! I Don’t Speak That Language!
Meeting needs can be challenging when kindergartners don’t speak English. Vanessa offers tips for guiding second language learners to success. You’ll discover how to build relationships with your ELL students and their parents. And, you’ll take home fun, new activities that will encourage your students to start speaking now.

3:00-4:15 pm
Session B19: Organize for Success! (co-presentation with Janet Dickens)
Discover simple steps for overcoming clutter and organizing your materials. You’ll learn how to manage centers using a simple, organized system. And, you’ll receive a blank floor-plan template and instructions for how to create a classroom space that facilitates teacher and student success.

I hope you will stop by and say “Hi!” if you are attending this event. Since it may be very crowded I had an idea that might work, if you are in one of my sessions and would like to identify yourself raise your hand in the audience and use sign-language. If you teach Kindergarten make the K sign and if you teach Pre-K make the sign for P.
