Music is a very important part of the Pre-K classroom.  Music is simply the most engaging, successful way to give four year olds memorable and meaningful  learning experiences.  The most important thing I have learned about using music in the classroom from my wonderful mentors (Barbara Visser, Nancy Pruett, and Norma Moon), is to make it interactive.  I provide props for the children to touch while we are singing the songs.  I have the students moving their bodies as I model.   Below I have included my list of favorite music resources to use in the classroom:

Thomas Moore-CD's

Dr. Moore's music is perfect for the EC/ESL classroom.  Everything from The Family Jog to Humpty Dumpty are favorites in our class.

Stephen Fite

Stephen Fite is the musical artist behind all of the Frog Street CD's, you can check out his own original music at Melody House Music.

Hugh Hanley-Circle of Songs CD's

Perfect for the ESL classroom these songs, rhymes, and fingerplays are short, engaging, and interactive. True classics that you can't find on any other CD's !

Sharon MacDonald

Tunes like Jingle in my Pocket (money song), I Can't Spell Ohio, and The Scissor Song are so catchy I bet both you and your students won't be able to stop singing even after the music stops!

Junior Jukebox

These CD's are the BEST for Pre-K and Kinder classes, there is a CD for every theme (24 total) and the best part is they are only $1 !!

Color Words CD, Number Words CD, and ABC CD's They changed my life and truly make learning fun for all children.

Super Simple Songs

Great for the ESL classroom!  My favorite are the free videos offered on their site.  My students can't get enough of 5 Little Monkeys, the Magnetic ABC song, or the Eensy Weensy Spider!
