About the Book
Perfect for young children who are learning to speak and identify colors My Book of Colors is also helpful for special needs students or English language learners. Young children can develop hand-eye coordination when they manipulate the colorful, realistic objects on the screen.
Additionally, if you encourage them to move the object from one side of the screen to the other with one finger from each hand they will be crossing the midline which enhances brain development.
The audio embedded on each page supports correct pronunciation and oral language development while the animation increases engagement.
Of course, technology should not be used to replace good teaching or parenting but it can be used in moderation to enhance learning.

I use my ipads for everything in my classroom. We use them to read books, practice and learn different concepts. I use them during center time and small group and large group times. I love my ipads.
I only have my personal iPad to use in my kindergarten classroom. I use a checklist to insure everyone gets a chance to use it during the week, sometimes in pairs. I also use it as a reward during recess time. I have some great apps that cover most of our k skills.
That book is really neat. I could see Myself using/buying books Like that if I had an iPad to use with the daycare kiddos
I am a Pre-k special needs teacher. I have various physical and cognitive disabilities in my classroom. My students range from 3 to 5 years old.
I use my personal IPAD in my classroom particularly for my non-verbal children; matching shapes and colors.
One comment about the color book, I was a little disappointed that the book requires a 2 finger touch to drag the pictures. My students would be able to use one finger but not two 🙁
I was fortunate enough to have a family donate 3 iPads to me for use in my classroom. (!) i LOVE them and use them every day. 2 are set up as a center choice on Monday/Wednesday (we use computers on Tuesday/Thursday because i think it is important for them to use both types of equipment……alot of kids start the year touching the computer screen because they are used to using mom’s iPhone, but dont know how to use a mouse). Myself and each of my assistsnts (!) use 1 during small group to work on specific skills. We also use them during center time to read stories snd watch videos that are relevant to what we are studying or something that has peeked a student’s interest. Finally, i use them to implement interventions (KY uses RTI in preschool……no comment……) and as a tool when working 1 on 1 with IEP goals.
I do not use it a lot, but have been reading more and more about how I can. I need to get started! Seems like this would be a great way!

I would use an I pad for individual practice or reading. It would be great for that 1 child that does not settle down at rest time.
Just bought an IPad, so I am interested in the books and apps that are available for preschoolers! I babysit my granddaughters everyday, and am going to use it with them.
I use my personal ipad in my classroom.It is used as a reward right now, but I would love to get more apps for my students!
I also use my personal iPad and iPhone in my room. My children love to play memory games on them. Since theses pieces of technology are mine, I usually sit with the children when they are playing the games, thy cannot use them independently.
I use my ipad with my son to read books and play educational games. I like the bright colors and clear simple pictures that this book uses 🙂
i do special ed services for preschool children in their homes and using an Ipad helps keep attention and motivates them
I have my daughter’s original iPad, but she does have a plan currently on the iPad. I will be sure to add this book to the iPad for my classroom when she does!
I’m not fortunate enought to have an i-pad. I’m curious to see if it would work on the i-pod touch. It would be great to help those children still struggling (in April) to identify theri colors. Anything that holds their attention is wonderful!

I only use my personal iPad in the classroom. My Kindergarten students use it during center time and during guided reading. Since I’m hoping to teach English language learners next year, I think this would be a wonderful iBook to use with them! 🙂
I do not have an iPad, yet!! We will be getting them in the fall from my preschoolers. I can hardly wait! When they come, I’ll need plenty of ideas and hope to use it (them) every day.
We have 2 iPads for 6 teachers to share. We love them! My students use them during center time and they are also a station during small group. The color book would be great at the beginning of the year.
I was moved into a classroom with no technology, not even a whiteboard SO I asked one of our technology people to help me with some intergration with technology. I was the first Pre-K class in the district to use ipads for the entire class. We have a one day a week appointment with the ipads. The technology guru comes to us and we work on letter identification, letter sounds, blending letters to make word, handwriting, number identification, counting, shapes and many more apps. My class also can now close out apps on the ipad. Our guru is so impressed. I have 20 students in a very high poverty school. Most of my students don’t even have computers at home much less ipads. We’ve had many of the bigwigs come and check us out. They are seeing that Pre-K can do this and are recommending that our district get more technology for our schools. I am so proud of my students.
We read a lot of interactive books on it with my son.
Great interactive book. I have recently started using different apps with my preschoolers on my iphone. I am looking to purchase an ipad this fall for them and this iBook would be perfect for them
I use my personal iPad with students to reinforce skills that we are working on such as letter or sound identification or handwriting. The IPad is also useful for some of my special needs students to take a break and refocus while still working on academic skills.
I don’t have an ipad to use in class, but we do have internet connection, a document camera and an LCD projector! I have found that using the document camera to project books we are reading up on the ‘big screen’ keeps everyone’s attention and is a great way to work on language skills in our preschool special needs classroom! I would love to have access to an ipad for our beginning computer users!
I think this app would be a perfect fir for my special needs 6yr old. He is working on colors and the interaction would keep him in gauged.
This is an awesome book. I don’t use an iPad in my classroom because I only have my personal one but I would love to be able let the children in my class discover and explore this book. It looked like lots of fun! I think I will get it for my granddaughter!
Someday I hope to have an iPad! Of I did have one..I’d love to use educational programs with my kiddos every now and then. 🙂
I bring my IPad from home to use in the classroom. I do not even have a computer in my class so I find the iPad very helpful. I look up books on YouTube and topics that we are covering. It helps me to show kids things instead of just telling them about them. On groundhogs day I was able to show them a ground. The look on their faces was priceless:)
I use the ipad as a motivator for all!
