Above you can see our Quiet Center as it is set up in the classroom.

Each tub is intended for no more than two students at a time, hence the name "quiet center".  I came up with this name because I couldn't find anything else to adequately describe this center.  The students are not required to be quiet here, the items just lend themselves well to quiet play.

Below you can see explanations of  the items pictured above.

Columns 1 & 2 Color Boxes

The first two columns of boxes in the picture above are all of our color boxes.  Click HERE to go to the Colors page for a complete description of how to use the color boxes.

Column 3

Some of the items in column 3 include legos, bristle blocks, gears, and lacing ABC's and numbers.

Column 4

Column 4 consists entirely of Potato Heads.  I have discovered that my students absolutely love playing with Potato Heads and it's great for fine motor development.  I have purchased almost all of my Potato Heads at thrift stores and garage sales.

Column 5

Column 5 consists of still more Potato Heads, some lacing animals, and some flash cards.
