Preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten take home book program.
Sending Books Home in Preschool
Research has proven that reading aloud daily is one of the most effective ways parents can help their children become successful readers. Unfortunately, many parents do not know how to effectively engage their children in a read aloud.
Take Home Book Program
Have you ever heard the African proverb, “It takes a village?” We may be excellent teachers but without the support of the parents our jobs can become even more difficult.
With higher standards to meet and larger class sizes to deal with we need as much help as we can get and parents are the key. If we want our students and their families to reap rewards from reading aloud together then we must provide them with the tools they need to be successful.
Are you tired of begging the parents of your students to read to them every night?
Could your parents benefit from step-by-step directions for reading aloud to their child?
Is keeping track of who has which book a nightmare?
Do your families have limited access to books?
Do your families need help selecting appropriate books to read aloud to their children?
The Take-Home Book Program will help you:
- Provide the parents of your students with step-by-step directions to make reading aloud to their children a positive and productive experience.
- Communicate exactly what you want parents to do when reading aloud so they will be more likely to read to their children on a consistent basis.
- Work smarter, not harder by establishing a simple, easy to use book checkout system.
- Provide families with access to fun, engaging, and age appropriate books to read at home.
- Meet state or national standards by partnering with parents and involving them directly in their child’s education.

Hi I’m very interested in the take home book idea. But before purchasing I would love to see an example of what the parent sheet includes.
Also how do you best manage this system?
Thanks Casey
