It’s time for What’s App Wednesday! Today we’ll be taking a look at the app Trucks by Duck Duck Moose. Check out the video below to see the app in action.
About the App
Trucks is the latest app from the developers Duck Duck Moose who are known for their high-quality, award winning apps. Very smooth, colorful, high-quality graphics make this app visually appealing to young children. The instrumental music set to popular children’s tunes is also very pleasing, not annoying like the music you hear on most apps.
Trucks features a game that requires the player to pick up and sort trash into the correct bins; garbage, recycling, and compost. You may remember that I was looking for apps that would teach eco-awareness or recycling around Earth Day and wouldn’t you know it, as soon as it was over I found two (see last week’s post about EduKitchen). Kids will also love washing cars, towing and fixing cars, picking up the trash in a garbage truck and moving dirt with dump trucks and bulldozers.
Features
- High quality graphics and animation
- Instrumental music to popular children’s tunes
- No ads or in-app purchases
Skills
- Eco Awareness (recycling)

Wish List
While this app is very visually appealing and well designed I feel it could offer more academic opportunities. The skills that Trucks supports are only on the most basic level which doesn’t allow for individualized play. If you’re looking for a fun, introductory app to familiarize your child or students with iPads or your kids just love cars and trucks then this might be the app for you.
You can find this app in the iTunes app store.
