Chicka Chicka Boom Boom in Preschool

The book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archembault is a classic must-read in all preschool and kindergarten classrooms.  Not only is this a must-read, it’s also very popular with the kids and always a class favorite!  Reading this book aloud to children is a powerful literacy extension that can lead to many learning opportunities for identifying letters of the alphabet. Banana Snack

These Chicka Chicka Boom Boom inspired snacks motivate little ones to learn the alphabet in fun and engaging ways.

I have included a few different versions to accommodate those picky little taste buds, so choose the one that best meets the needs of your kids.

First up is this super easy and tasty banana kiwi snack.

Ingredients

  • Banana
  • Kiwi
  • Raisins
  • Alpha Bits Cereal

Assembly
Start by peeling and slicing the banana. Older children can use plastic knives to do this part themselves, it’s great a great way to develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills!

Next, peel and slice your kiwi, this part can be tricky so it is best done by an adult.

Then, invite your kids to assemble their snack and add raisins and Alpha Bits cereal to their creations as they retell the story of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Retelling is a great way to increase comprehension and develop oral language.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Celery and Kiwi Snack for Preschool

Celery and Kiwi Snack

This is my Chicka Chicka Boom Boom version of the popular Ants on a Log snack.

Please note that if your child or students have nut allergies you can use a nut free substitute or cream cheese instead of peanut butter.

Ingredients

  • Celery
  • Kiwi
  • Raisins
  • Peanut Butter OR Nut Free Substitute
  • Alpha Bits Cereal

Assembly
Start by peeling and slicing the kiwi. Next, set out the other ingredients and invite the kids to assemble their own snack.

Children can spread the peanut butter on the celery stalk with a plastic knife or, if you don’t think your kids are ready for plastic knives, popsicle sticks work just as well.

Spreading is great for developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Not just for retelling, these snacks may also encourage little ones to try new foods!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Graham Cracker Snack

This snack is super easy and one most kids will eat without hesitation.

Ingredients

  • Green Apple
  • Graham Crackers
  • Alpha Bits Cereal

Assembly
First, slice the apples. Then, set out the graham crackers and Alpha Bits and invite the children to assemble their snacks.

Another super easy and virtually mess free Chicka Chicka Boom Boom snack that your kids will love!

Ingredients

  • Green Apple
  • Pretzel Rods
  • Alpha Bits Cereal

Assembly
Simply put out the apples, pretzel rods, and Alpha Bits and invite the kids to make their very own version of the tree from the story.
