Welcome to Pre-K Pages!

I’m Vanessa Levin, a curriculum writer, early childhood teacher, consultant, public speaker, and author. I help busy Pre-K and Preschool teachers plan effective and engaging lessons, create fun, playful learning centers, and gain confidence in the classroom.

This week I watched a television program featuring previews of all the shows that will be premiering soon. That program inspired me to write about some of the new picture books that will be released soon. Nobody could be more excited about the release of new children’s picture books than early childhood teachers, except maybe the kids they’re written for!

First up is Llama Llama Holiday Drama by Anna Dewdney scheduled for release on October 19, 2010.
Little llama learns that waiting is hard, especially during the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Mama llama helps him understand what true gifts really are.
This book is a great addition to the Llama series, Llama Llama Red Pajama, Llama Llama Mad at Mama, and Llama Llama Misses Mama.

It’s Christmas, David! by David Shannon was released on September, 1, 2010 with plenty of time to spare for the holidays.
We already know how naughty David is; now imagine Christmas trees, cookies, candy, holiday parties, presents…and David. Is Santa watching and will David have any presents left under the tree? This one is a sure hit all children will be able to relate to. Move over Christmas Story, here comes David!

The 3 Little Dassies is the latest from bestselling children’s author, Jan Brett. This title is scheduled for release on September 21, 2010.
This new twist on the classic tale of The Three Little Pigs is set in Namibia. Dassies are the African version of guinea pigs with short ears and tails. Jan Brett’s books are always a visual treat and this one is no exception; the vibrant illustrations filled with bold African artwork leap off the pages.
