Ice Cream Shop Dramatic Play
Summer is almost here and you know what that means, ice cream! This super cute ice cream stand took only minutes to make and is infused with playful educational opportunities to support literacy and math standards.
The ice cream dramatic play center will provide your students with tons of fun for the last few weeks of pre-k or kindergarten, VBS, or a year-round childcare program. I’ve also included a freebie at the bottom, keep reading to grab your copy.

Supplies
- Tri-fold board {craft store}
- Pink Polka Dot Duct Tape
- Box cutter
- Ice Cream Printables
- Pretend ice cream cones and plastic bowls
- Empty box
- Packing tape
How to Make a Walk Up Ice Cream Shop Window
Start by cutting the “window” in your display board with the box cutter. I traced three sides of a box on the front of the board and then cut along the lines. Next, use the packing tape to secure an old box to the back of the display board (see picture below) to keep it steady and hold up the serving ledge. My box was a little short so I added an empty dog bone box to the top.
Then, add the designer duct tape of your choice around the edges of the board and the window ledge. Finally, print the ice cream shop printables and attach them to your display board and your ice cream stand is open for business!
I found the plastic ice cream cones pictured above in packs of 4 at the Dollar Tree. They also had popsicles but my store was sold out. The cones are filled with bubbles so let your kids have fun emptying them out and then hot glue the lids on and re-purpose them in your dramatic play center ice cream shop.
Free Printable Ice Cream Coupons
I also made these free printable coupons for you above, just click on the picture to access. Simply copy the coupons multiple times and cut out. Your students can present the coupons to the cashier at the ice cream stand window for a free ice cream on their “birthday.”
