About the Guidecraft 3 Shelf Bookshelf

I am reviewing the Guidecraft 3 Shelf Book Shelf because I am passionate about books and literacy, especially making books organized and accessible in the classroom. This book shelf was fairly easy to assemble but it did take two people. It seems extremely durable and fits in nicely with my other classroom furniture. In the picture below you can see it next to my other shelf that was purchased from a school supply store.

How to Set Up a Classroom Library in Preschool

When setting up a library for young children in your classroom or at home here are some things to remember:

  • Place books in your library with the covers facing front. Tilting your head and reading the title from the spine of the book is something we as adults can do, but young children who cannot read are attracted to the pictures and colors on the front of the books. They will be able to select books that interest them easily when books are facing forward.
  • Categorize your books by topic such as colors, shapes, letters, numbers etc. This will make finding books easier for children. If children can easily find books they want they will be more likely to read.
  • Label your books and baskets or bins. Young children will be able to return books to the correct location easily when the books and the bins are clearly labeled.

You can find more information about setting-up and organizing your classroom or home library here.

The rounded edges and corners will help keep little ones safe and the UV finish ensures that the bookshelf will withstand heavy duty use in any classroom or home.
