Goldilocks beginning sounds
Students attach clothespins with letters to the pictures that have the corresponding beginning sounds. There is also a recording sheet included with this activity. This beginning sounds activity is available in the Goldilocks Literacy Packet located in the printables section below.

Goldilocks Rhyming Activity

Goldilocks rhyming activity
Students roll the picture cube and give a word that rhymes with the picture. They mark their recording sheet when they give a correct rhyme. If students need help generating a rhyme they can ask a friend. This activity is available in the Goldilocks Literacy Packet located in the printables section below. It includes the recording sheet and a printable picture cube you can cut out and assemble or you can print out the cards and attach them to a square box or use a pocket die.

Compare and Contrast

Materials: Xerox copies of the front of several different Goldilocks stories, glue stick, chart paper, markers.
Xerox the front cover of several Goldilocks books. Shrink the copies so they will all fit at the top of your chart paper. Glue the copies to the top of the chart and use the markers to make the lines for a graph. Show the students the actual books and have a discussion comparing and contrasting the stories. Have the students write their names under their favorite Goldilocks story and review the results in large group. Post the chart on the wall for future reference.

This game is available {in black and white or color} in the Goldilocks Math Packet located in the printables section below. The Just Right! Number Identification game can be played using numbers 0-10 or numbers 0-20 depending on your student’s ability levels. The playing cards are available in black and white and color for your convenience. Also included are two printable recording sheets in black and white, one for each version of the game.

Printable Goldilocks Board Game

Porridge Tasting Graph

Materials: instant oatmeal, brown sugar or honey, cups, spoons, chart paper, markers.
Make instant oatmeal and divide into disposable cups (cheaper and smaller than disposable bowls). Use the wooden flat spoons that come with Dixie cups, they are much cheaper than plastic spoons. Add some brown sugar or honey to the oatmeal to give it some flavor. Prepare a graph in advance using the chart paper, draw a happy face on the top right hand side and a sad face on the top left. Have students taste the “porridge” and then write their names on the chart under the appropriate face (happy face for “yes, I liked it” and sad face for “no, I didn’t like it”). Discuss the results during large group and post on the wall.

Small, Medium, Large

Materials: brown construction paper, regular paper, markers/crayons, scissors, glue, miscellaneous craft items (i.e. buttons, fabric, ribbon, wiggly eyes…)
Copy 3 different sized bear patterns on brown construction paper; small, medium, and large. Have the students cut out the bears and use their crayons/markers, craft items, and glue to decorate the bear family. Students can glue the three bears onto the regular paper according to size.
