5 Day Baa Baa Black Sheep Plan

Day 1:

• Introduce plush Black Sheep to the class and sing the song while holding the sheep.
• Read Baa Baa Black Sheep book to class (use reproducible book-see resources section below, enlarge, copy on cardstock, color, laminate, and bind to make your own book)
• Re-tell the rhyme using the Baa Baa Black Sheep flannel board (see resources below)
• Sing Baa Baa Black Sheep song (Dr Jean) Show the book and turn the pages as you sing the song.

Day 2:

• Read Baa Baa Black Sheep book to class.
• Introduce Baa Baa Black Sheep pocket chart. Have one student come to front and point to the words while whole class says rhyme.
• Have a student come to the front and re-tell the rhyme using the Baa Baa Black Sheep flannel board
• Sing Baa Baa Black Sheep song, show the book and turn the pages as you sing the song.

Day 3:

• Read Baa Baa Black Sheep book to class.
• Review Baa Baa Black Sheep pocket chart Have one student come to front and point to the words while whole class says rhyme.

Day 5:

• Review Baa Baa Black Sheep pocket chart Have one student come to front and point to the words while whole class says rhyme.
• Have a student come to the front and re-tell the rhyme using the Baa Baa Black Sheep flannel board
• Sing Baa Baa Black Sheep song, show the book and turn the pages as you sing the song.
• Act out rhyme with entire class.

Baa Baa Black Sheep Music

Baa Baa Black Sheep Activity
Materials: 3 brown grocery bags, lamb headband.
Select one student to be the “black sheep”, one to be the master, and another to be the dame. . The student who is the black sheep can wear the headband. As the children are acting out the rhyme have the whole class say the rhyme out loud with you. Continue acting out the rhyme until all students have had a turn to be one of the characters in the rhyme.
To make the headband you will need one sentence strip and two black pieces of paper cut into the shape of sheep ears. Glue the two pieces of black paper to the sentence strips and staple the two ends together to make a headband.
