Muffin Man Activities
Act Out the Rhyme
Materials: 1 chef’s hat, muffin tin
Select one student to be “The Muffin Man” by wearing the hat and holding the tin. As the children are acting out the rhyme have the whole class say the rhyme out loud with you. Continue acting out the rhyme until all students have had a turn to be the muffin man. Place the hat and tin in your dramatic play center so the students can act out the rhyme independently.
Muffin Graph
Materials: variety of mini-muffins, chart paper, markers
Have your students graph their favorite types of muffins on a graph. First, prepare your chart on a large sheet of butcher paper. Label each column with a different type of muffin and draw a picture as a visual cue to go with the words. Next, allow the students to sample the mini-muffins and graph their favorites. The students can write their names using the markers in the appropriate column. Review the graph as a whole group discussing the similarities and differences.
