Three Little Pigs Beginning Sounds Activity
Beginning sound activity for the story of The Three Little Pigs
Students attach clothespins with letters to the pictures that have the corresponding beginning sounds. There is also a recording sheet included with this activity. This beginning sounds activity is available in the Three Pigs Literacy Packet located in the printables section below.

Three Little Pigs Rhyming Activity
Three Little Pigs rhyming activity
Students roll the picture cube and give a word that rhymes with the picture. They mark their recording sheet when they give a correct rhyme. If students need help generating a rhyme they can ask a friend. This activity is available in the Three Pigs Literacy Packet located in the printables section below. It includes the recording sheet and a printable picture cube you can cut out and assemble or you can print out the cards and attach them to a square box or use a pocket die.

Set of word cards to go with the story of The Three Little Pigs. The cards can be used in a pocket chart or on a word wall to expand vocabulary and support comprehension skills. The word cards are included in the Three Pigs Literacy Packet below.

Act Out the Story
Materials: Three Pig Masks (see Retelling Tales Headbands book in resources below), props such as straw, sticks, and a real brick, sentence strips, crayons, glue stick, paper, scissors.
Copy the retelling headbands from the Retelling Tales book and have students color, cut, and glue. Select several students to be “characters” in your play. The teacher can act as narrator as the students act out the story. Provide students with the props they will need to act out the story.

Compare and Contrast
Materials: Copy copies of the front of several different Three Pigs stories, glue stick, chart paper, markers.
Copy the front cover of several different Three Little Pigs books. Shrink the copies so they will all fit at the top of your chart paper. Glue the copies to the top of the chart and use the markers to make the lines for a graph. Show the students the actual books and have a discussion comparing and contrasting the stories. Have the students write their names under their favorite Three Pigs story and review the results in large group. Post the chart on the wall for future reference.
